
The Keep Key West Clean and Green Committee is a community organization of volunteers seeking to help keep our island beautiful for our residents and visitors.
The vision statement for the Committee is "To have a noticeable lack of litter on the City's rights-of-way, beaches and shores, and on private property so that Key West will remain an unspoiled uniquely wonderful place to live."
The mission statement for the Committee is "To coordinate and spearhead fair and equitable measures to assist in meeting the vision statement by organizing public and private groups in developing an adopt-an-area program, city clean-up initiatives, code modifications, and recommending City procedures."
The Keep Key West Clean and Green Committee meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the first floor conference room of City Hall, located at 525 Angela St. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The committee is currently in need of a new chair person please contact Jaime Baker at 305-809-3962 if you are interested in chairing the committee
We would like to send out a special thanks to the Hyatt Key West who have adopted the Simonton beach Area as a clean up location and have dedicated much time and energy to keeping the beach clean every month. Also we would like to thank the Poinciana Recycling Rangers, the Coast Guard and the Lower Keys Medical Center for there dedication to cleaning up Key West through the year and their continued dedication to hosting various clean ups throughout the City of Key West.
If you are interested in hosting a clean up please call Jaime Baker at 305-809-3962. The City of Key West will provide you with pick up sticks and grabage bags. We will also call ahead to Waste Management to have all the debris removed from the area you are cleaning up.

City Commisioners and the Mayor of Key West gathered to help out at the Volunteer Recycling Training at the Eco-Discovery Center on Saturday July 11th, 2009 along with several GLEE members and volunteers to educate the public how to educate other people in the neighborhoods about the new mandatory recycling ordinance.

People and children alike watch on eagerly to begin there recycling training as city commisioners, Teri Johnston, Clayton Lopez, Bill Verge act out skits along with City of Key West Mayor Morgan McPherson and City Manager Jim Scholl about different situations that people may encounter while canvassing the city and training people on the new mandatory recycling ordinance.
