KWFD Aeromed Training

On March 14, 2003, the Key West Fire Department participated in training and a drill to ensure our response capabilities in the event of a dive accident requiring helicopter evacuation. The Army Corps of Engineers Divers from all over the country currently training at FKCC, provided the First Responder actions and secured the landing zone. Our Engine Company #7 provided a fire and accident safety presence and made suggestions regarding First Responder and Fire Service interaction at incident sites. Our thanks to the AeroMed crew, Pilot: Kelly Fredrickson, Medic: Patrick Flynn, Nurse: Jackie MacKinnon. From the FKCC Dive program, Bob Smith, Dive Director and Dive Medical Officer Dr. Rick Guobaitis, and Captain Mike Karash, Acting Captain Steve Wells, Acting Driver Alan Collins, Firefighters Keith Sellers and Alan Averette with the KWFD.
