Public Safety Diver Training

May 6th - 17th 2002, members of the Fire Department Dive Team attended the Public Safety Diver course offered by Florida Keys Community College. The training enabled the team to operate at a heightened level of safety and effectiveness in its role as emergency responders to aquatic incidents and any subsequent search and recovery mission that may arise.

The opportunity to train with Monroe County Sheriff personnel, Key West Police and Florida Wildlife Commission Officers will be invaluable when they are called upon to work in a joint operation. The subject material provided the team with practical experience in tasks that they will perform during training and actual responses. Participating team members are listed below:

  • Captain John Bringle

  • Captain Mike Karash

  • Engineer Mark Sellers

  • Engineer David Williams

  • Firefighter Keith Sellers

  • Firefighter Jacob Perry

  • Firefighter Tony Kaye

  • Firefighter Michael Budde

  • Firefighter Greg Bringle
