Mayor and club manager honored at festival

BMI representatives from Nashville recently honored Key West Mayor Jimmy Weekley and Hog’s Breath General Manager Charlie Bauer, holding guitars, for their continued support for the Key West Songwriters’ Festival. BMI and many of their songwriters, Bradley Collins, Mark Mason, James Dean Hicks, Bauer, Weekley, Amber White, Phillip White, Chris Wallin and Craig Wiseman, singed the two guitars. Bauer is one of the originators of the festival and Weekley has supported the event as a city commissioner and mayor. This year’s festival marked the 10th anniversary of the popular event. More than 30 songwriters came from Nashville to participate and more than a dozen local venues put on shows. Weekley said he has seen the festival grow from a handful of guys coming to vacation and sing in Key West, to this year’s large turnout and deemed the festival one of Key West’s big successes.
