A Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of a local fugitive in Key West Tuesday.
The tipster said Clinton Harris, 31, of Key West, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and gave an address and description of where Harris lived. Key West Police Officer Henry Arroyo knew he no longer lived there and was temporarily living at a White Street apartment. Arroyo set up surveillance Tuesday morning and soon saw Harris come outside to smoke a cigarette.
He called in officers to surround the area and then knocked on the door. Someone let him in and he found Harris still inside. Arroyo arrested him on a warrant for violating probation granted for a grand theft conviction and on another warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
The tipster will be getting a cash reward for his or her information after the Crime Stoppers’ civilian board of directors decides on its amount in a few days. The tips line number is 1-800-346-TIPS (8477).
