Keys kids will have a chance to have their pictures taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus and tell them their last-minute holiday wishes at the annual Toys for Tots Children’s Christmas Fest on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Key West Winn-Dixie supermarket at the Overseas Market shopping center.

“This is the Toys for Tots volunteers’ big ‘thank you’ for the Key West community’s legendary generosity,” said Susan Solares, a volunteer for the program. “It’s free for all kids.” She said hundreds of toys and thousands of dollars have been donated to bring Christmas presents to the city’s needy children.

The Key West Police Department Toys for Tots, with Winn-Dixie and LPI/KeyWest, who manage Overseas Market, are sponsoring the celebration. The Clauses and their friends will be there between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Goodies and free finger printing will be available in addition to the free photograph.

Families of kids expecting to receive Christmas presents from Toys for Tots are reminded to stay close to home Sunday, Dec. 19, after 9 a.m. That’s when Santa and Mrs. Claus will start delivering sacks of presents to the kids’ families’ houses. The fire truck and trolley carrying them will make it easy to know when they’re in the neighborhood.
