Another Bahama Village drug arrest

Key West police chased down and caught an alleged marijuana dealer who was wanted for sale of cocaine.

At about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. David Smith and Officer Todd Stevens were working with the Street Crimes Unit detectives when they saw Hunter, who they knew was wanted, walking in the 800 block of Thomas Street. When they got out of their marked car, in uniform, and called to Hunter, he took off running.

Smith and Stevens chased after him, ordering him to stop running. The chase went up Thomas Street and then up Olivia Street until Hunter was stopped by a 6-foot fence in the back yard of an Olivia Street house. Because of Hunterís violent criminal history, and for their safety, they ordered him to the ground. When he did not to obey, they physically took him to the ground and handcuffed him.

When they got him back to the street, they searched him, reportedly finding 17 small bags of marijuana. The 28-year-old Key West man was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and the sale of cocaine warrant.
