A Crime Stoppers tip nailed a fugitive hiding in a Laird Street house in Key West.
A cash reward will be going to the tipster who called Crime Stoppers Saturday afternoon, May 7, saying Michael Meadows, 46, was wanted and was at a Laird Street address, hiding in the attic. The Key West police night shift set up a perimeter around the house, but somehow Meadows gave them the slip.
The tipster called again that evening saying Meadows was back in the house, so they set up another perimeter. A friend of Meadows drew them a floor plan of the house in case officers had to go inside. Another friend went inside and tried to talk Meadows into turning himself in, but Meadows ran toward the back door. Two officers were there, so he ran back inside with the two officers in pursuit. Then he ran toward the front door where two officers stationed there caught him. Meadows was wanted for violating probation granted on convictions for possession of oxycodone and possession of diazepam.
People calling Crime Stoppers never have to identify themselves. This tipster should call the tips line number, 1-800-346-TIPS (8477) for instructions on how to pick up the cash reward.
