<  :>Key West police arrested a man for aggravated assault with a firearm and drunken driving after he allegedly brandished a handgun during an argument downtown Monday.
< >The witnesses called police with a description of the SUV Nikea Rasharn Lewis drove away from the Greene Street incident. Officer Matt Dorgan stopped it near the exit to the island and officers removed Lewis from the SUV at gunpoint. They searched Lewis and the SUV and did not find a gun.
< >Witnesses and the victim told Officer Mark Tolleson Lewis pulled a black handgun from his waistband after the argument over the victim seeing Lewis’ former girlfriend. One man said Lewis chambered a round by racking the slide on the gun and told one of the men, “You better get him!” apparently referring to the victim. He said they all took off running. All three men’s description of the incident and of the gun reportedly matched.
< >Lewis reportedly told Tolleson he had a gun but it was at his home in Alabama. Tolleson arrested him for aggravated assault with a firearm.
DUI Specialist Officer Kevin O’Connell was also there and noted Lewis smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. He arrested the 30-year-old Big Pine Key man for DUI after Lewis reportedly refused to take a breath test for alcohol.
