Key West police Monday morning had to pepper spray a reportedly highly agitated naked man walking toward a school bus stop full of young children.
When police ordered him to stop, he responded with foul language and kept on walking toward the school bus stop. Then they pepper sprayed him directly in the face twice to no effect. The man kept on talking to himself and walking directly toward the bus stop with 20 to 30 children screaming with fright. The incident took place just before 8 a.m. on Duck Avenue near the entrance to the Poinciana public housing complex.
When the man was about 30 feet from the bus stop, officers blocked him with a patrol car. Three officers finally had to physically subdue him as he resisted violently. They wrapped him in a towel and put him in the patrol car. At the jail he reportedly was so violent he had to be put in a restraining chair. The man gave his name as Kempo Woods, age 33, of Springfield, Ill., but a computer check could not confirm that name. He was charged with lewd or lascivious exhibition and resisting arrest with violence.
