Red light runner in big trouble

A Key West man who reportedly ran a red light ended up in a lot more trouble than just a traffic ticket. He wound up in the county jail with multiple drug charges.

Key West Police officer Eric DeFilippo pulled over John Terence Davila, 20, when he ran a red light yesterday at Truman Avenue and Duval Street at about 2:10 p.m. DeFilippo arrested Davila when his driverís license turned out to be suspended. A search after arrest reportedly turned up a prescription bottle in the driverís door panel containing hydrocodone and Xanax pills. They also found $3,290 in cash in the center console, cocaine between the console and the driverís seat and a tin of drug paraphernalia in the glove box. The money was in $100, $50 and $20 dollar bills. A cold beer was on the passenger side floor.

Davila was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended license, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 18 counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine and possession with intent to sell cocaine.
